Flavors of Island Music

As part of its commitment to continue the legacy of Hawai'i’s music, Starwood Hotels & Resorts offers “Flavors of Island Music,” a campaign that celebrates and perpetuates the diverse styles of island entertainment.

The Sheraton Kauai Resort is proud to participate in Flavors of Island Music by featuring entertainment by some of the island's most talented artists:

Kaleo Club International

The sounds of Hawaii blend beautifully at sunset on Kauai's southern coast with the melodies and dances of Kaleo Club International. Vocalists skilled in guitar, ukulele and bass, serenade guests with both traditional and contemporary Hawaiian accompanied by graceful hula dancers.

Founded in 1995 by Kauai entertainer, Doric Yaris, Kaleo Club International has grown to include 50 talented musicians and a hula halua (Halau Hula O Hali'ileo) of 100 dancers, who perform across the mainland and Japan.

Members of Kaleo Club International perform during the hotel’s complimentary Mai Tai reception from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

The Take Offs

Go back to the glory days of rock and roll with instrumental “surf” music by The TakeOffs performed weekly at the Sheraton Kauai Resort’s “The Point” lounge.  If you remember the music of The Ventures and classic surf bands like The Surfari's, The Pyramids and guitar stars Dick Dale and Duane Eddy, this band will have your toes tapping while you enjoy a tropical cocktail and the panoramic view of the Poipu coast. The TakeOffs’ lead guitarist Bill Mello captures the classic sound with a Fender Stratocaster and enough "twang" to send you right back to Surf City. Backed by bassist John Hunt, drummer Conrad Mathews and rhythm guitarist "Bumpy" Rhoades, the band also performs the contemporary new surf sounds of bands like Nashvilles' Los Stingrays, The Blue Hawaiians, The Bambi Molesters, Tiesco Del Ray and The Halibuts.
